CULTURAL H.ID.RA.N.T. – CULTURAL Hidden IDentities ReAppear through Networks of WaTer The Cultural H.ID.RA.N.T is an innovative project that aims to re-utilize and promote as a cultural heritage Hadrian’s Aqueduct, which is found in the contemporary city of Halandri (Athens). The Aqueduct was constructed during Hadrian’s empire (2nd century A.D) in order to transfer and supply water in different areas in Athens. Since then, its form and use has changed, resulting in its abandonment and disuse. The municipality of Halandri initiated the re-introduction of the history and importance of the ancient monument, as well as its reuse as a natural source for the local needs. Through the process of participatory citizenship and the organization of various cultural events, the monument becomes a vehicle for a sustainable urban planning, where there is more access to green and less dependence on conventional and non – cost effective water supplies.
