FAROS Non-profit organization that provides humanitarian support for refugee children, youth and families in Athens. The main purpose of the organization is protection, aid, emotional support and guidance for refugee children. Some of the services provided are streetwork, drop in center and shelter. The streework is the first step in finding children who are left on their own. A team consisting of a psychologist, social worker and cultural mediator inform the found children regarding the services available at the drop-in center. The drop-in center consists of sports activities, informal education, vocational training and meals. In situations that need immediate action, temporary shelter is available. Another important aspect of the program is to raise the children’s self-esteem, provide opportunities and inspire them to take an active part in society.
