Repair Cafe Denmark is a sustainable community concept where volunteer enthusiasts assist local citizens to repair faulty items that would otherwise have been discarded. The purpose is to give new life to everyday consumer items such as mobile chargers, shirts, toasters, old chandeliers, kitchen appliances and more. All repairs are free of charge. Repair Cafe is a non-profit organization with repair initiatives all over Denmark. They reside in local libraries and other community buildings and are currently present in 82 locations. The purpose is to facilitate and motivate volunteers, consumers, organizations, and municipalities to create and participate in Repair Cafes and thereby help reduce waste, change consumption patterns and creating knowledge about a green future. Repair Cafe wants to change today’s throw-away society by teaching consumers that it is possible to repair, rather than just throwing out and buying new. Repair Cafe Denmark also hosts and participates in various Repair Cafe events and workshops around Denmark. Repair café is working to change the waste-generating consumer culture and are also working politically to influence the legislation to force production of goods with focus on reparability, transparency and easy access to spare parts and documentation. They are member of the Right to Repair campaign in Europe.
