United Change is 17 unique partnerships lead by the experimental Aarhus theatre Teateret Svalegangen, which, together, will create 17 new works of art – all with a thematic focus on a sustainable future. The art works will be shown on a large-scale festival in Aarhus, Denmark in September 2023 where 17 global goal art works will be produced within dramatic art, visual arts, music, video-animation & light art. The 17 works of art can be experienced on a walk through the center of Aarhus.

The 17 global goal works of art will be developed by artists in partnerships with scientists and businesses, who have experience with the global goal in question.

Art plays a pivotal role in motivating more citizens, companies, and cultural institutions to change their behavior and comply with the UN’s global goals for sustainable development. United Change believe that art can change senses to actions. The hope is that United Change will be a source of inspiration internationally as well as locally. It is United Change’s ambition to create a clear and positive footprint on the journey towards more sustainable development.

United Change is a three-stage project. Already in 2019, Teatret Svalegangen focused on four of the biosphere global goals in four theatrical performances. In September 2021, Teatret Svalegangen relaunched a larger scaled UNITED CHANGE Festival in the area around the theatre together with 12 external partners. Six works of global goal art were presented to the audience. The events in 2019 and 2021 serve as a warm-up for UNITED CHANGE 2023 — a mega-event to be held in the center of Aarhus.
